And at Good Storage Richmond, you can open the gate with your swipe card 24/7.
What are your office hours?
Our Nelson office is open 9am to 5pm on weekdays and 10am to 12pm Saturdays. Our office is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
And the office for our Richmond site is open 9am to 2:30pm on weekdays and 10am to 12pm on Saturdays (by appointment only). Our office is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Do you have trailers available?
We sure do! You can book a trailer for free at either our Nelson or Richmond office.
What’s your minimum storage period?
For renting a storage space, we have a one-month minimum storage period. For vehicles, we have no minimum storage period.
What notice do I need to give to move out?
You can move out any time after your one-month minimum storage period. We like to keep things as flexible as possible, so we only ask for seven days’ notice. Good ey?
How do I sign up for a unit?
It’s really easy to sign up for Good Storage. We just need you to sign a contract and show us a form of ID (passport, driver’s licence).
If you’re local, just pop into our Nelson or Richmond offices. But if you would prefer or are in a different town, city or country, we can get you signed up remotely using our online contract. If you are local we will also happily come to you and sign you up at your place or business.
When you sign up, we usually ask for two weeks’ rent in advance plus a two-week bond, which we refund when you move out.
How do I pay for my unit?
You can choose to pay weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. You can even pick what day of the week you make your payment on.
At Good Storage Nelson, we ask that you set up an automatic payment. We also accept cash, EFTPOS, and Visa/Mastercard.
At Good Storage Richmond, we use a Direct Debit system that deducts your rent from either a bank account or a Visa/Mastercard.
What about insurance?
Good Storage does not insure your belongings. Your household insurance typically covers your belongings stored with us. But we recommend you let your insurance company know that you’re storing stuff at one of our facilities.
Can you help me move in?
We have a range of local and national moving companies that we work with. So if you need a recommendation, we can point you in the right direction.
And don’t forget you can book one of our free trailers when moving into your storage unit. Just ask at one of our offices.
What kind of security do you have?
All our facilities have:
- 24/7 CCTV monitoring
- floodlighting
- security fencing, and
- guard callouts.
Good Storage Nelson has:
- CCTV

Who has access to my unit?
Just you. When you move into a unit, you supply your own padlock. Don’t have one? No sweat. We’ve got a range of quality, low-cost locks you can buy in both our Nelson and Richmond offices.
How do I know what size unit I need?
Our staff are pros when it comes to fitting stuff into unit spaces (weirdly, they’re also really good at Tetris).
If you’re not sure what size unit you need, check out our storage options. Or contact us and we’ll help you choose.
What can I do in my unit?
If you have a specific use in mind besides general storage, it’s best to check with us first.
A lot of businesses use our storage as a base for storing stock or packing up orders. But we don’t allow anything that poses a fire risk (like vehicle restoration/repairs) or anything loud that might disturb other customers.
What can I store in my unit and what’s off bounds?
You can store most things, but you can’t store perishable items, like food, or hazardous things that can catch fire or explode.
Keeping you (and your storage), plus our staff and facilities safe is our number one priority.
If you’re not sure what you can and can’t store in one of our units, just ask.
Are your locations pest free?
Yes. All our facilities have a pest control program that Spiderban maintain regularly.
